The meeting was chaired by the Chairman, Prof. J. B. Ekanayake. Prof. J. B. Ekanayake welcomed the gathering and presented a summary of the activities conducted from March 2014 to date. Then, the Secretary, Dr. S. K. Abeygunawardane read the minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting, which was held on 24 th January 2015. Dr. K.T.M.U. Hemapala proposed that the minutes were in order. It was seconded by Dr. L. N. Widanagama Arachchige and the minutes were unanimously confirmed. Next, the Treasurer Dr. P. J. Binduhewa presented the treasurer report. Minor typo error was pointed out by Dr. L. N. Widanagama Arachchige and it was corrected by the Treasurer. Prof. J. B. Ekanayake mentioned that the IEEE PES SL chapter has accumulated funding, specially through the DLP event held in 2015. Mr. P. A. G. S. Abeynayake proposed that the treasurer report was in order. It was seconded by Dr. L. N. Widanagama Arachchige and the treasurer report was unanimously confirmed. The independent judicator, Dr. A. Atputharajah mentioned that Prof. J. B. Ekanayake was selected for the “Outstanding Engineer Award, 2015”. After presenting the service done by Prof. J. B. Ekanayake for the Engineering education, research and Engineering profession, Dr. A. Atputharajah presented the plaque to Prof. J. B. Ekanayake. Then, Prof. J. B. Ekanayake was appointed as the independent judicator for selecting a person for the “Outstanding Engineer Award, 2016”. As the former committee resigned from the posts, Prof. J. B. Ekanayake invited the Chair-elect, Dr. K.T.M.U. Hemapala for the years 2014/2015 to proceed as the Chairperson for the years 2016/2017. Then, nominations for the office bearers for the year 2016/2017 were called by Dr. K.T.M.U. Hemapala. The following office bearers were elected unanimously. Hemapala addressed the gathering. He highlighted the importance of encouraging young Engineering professionals and proposed to present an award for the Outstanding Young Engineering Professional. Vote of Thanks and the End of the AGM: Since there were no other issues to be discussed, the Chairman, Dr. K.T.M.U. Hemapala gave a vote of thanks and adjourned the meeting at 12 noon.
