December 5, 2015 at 1:30 AM - December 6, 2015 at 10:30 AM @ Peradeniya
Description
The congress was held at University of Peradeniya on 5th and 6th of December 2015 There were three major sections included in the IEEE WIE Sri Lanka section Track Section 1: Ice breaker game Each participant was given a resistor out of five resistor values on entrance. The color code was provided for them to read the value of resistance they received and was asked to find to which group they belong depending on the value of the resistance. It was an effective way to group as the participants were involved from the beginning itself in finding which group they should go and sit with. Then each group was given a set of ten technical words. The task was to form a creative poem, dialog or a letter using as much as words from the list of those uncorrelated words and present the outcome in an attractive way to the audience. Though it was a seemingly impossible task the collaborative output of all the groups were amazing and brought all the participants to a friendly environment as expected and paved the path to a successful session. Section 2:Enlighten talk to be the next IEEE WIE Leader This inspirational talk was done by Nadee Seneviratne, Junior Assistant Editor at IEEE GOLDRush. She shared her experience with IEEE and values it has brought to her personally as well as professionally. She also talked about how to volunteer in IEEE and help IEEE reach its mission while benefiting as an individual. Her experiences as the Junior Assistant Editor at IEEE GOLDRush were able to give a new insight for the participants about how to be the next IEEE WIE Leader. Section 3: Talk on Design Your Career as a WIE This talk was conducted by IEEE Excom member Dilrukshi Gamage. The next generation career path for young women in engineers was the base for her talk. She encouraged women engineers as entrepreneurs throughout her talk and how to plan ahead to manage your career and personal life as a women in technology was also discussed.
