Agenda Lighting the traditional oil lamp Welcome speech by Dr. Maheshi Dissanayake The meeting was commenced with the warmed welcome from the interim chair, IEEE WIE affinity group Sri Lanka section , Dr. Maheshi Dissanayake. Election of Office Bearers Dr. Maheshi Dissanayake was proposed as the new president of the IEEE WIE affinity group Sri Lanka section by Mrs. Waranatha Abeygunasekara and seconded by Ms.Akila Wijethunge as the first step of appointing the members. Next, the new president thanked the members for electing her as the president of the IEEE WIE affinity group Sri Lanka section for the year 2015 and conducted the AGM to elect following office bearers. First, the main office bearers and their assistant positions were elected as follows. Refreshments Speech on “” by Prof. Wai-Choong (Lawrence) Wong, Director & Vice President of IEEE Prof. Wai-Choong (Lawrence) Wong, Director & Vice President of IEEE addressed the gathering on Importance of IEEE organization and the opportunities for its members. The speech was so important to identify the contribution of IEEE to the members and the responsibilities as members. Speech by Prof. Takako Hashimoto, IEEE WIE chair 2015 Prof. Takako Hashimotodelivered her talk on Organizational structure of IEEE WIE and its benefits for the women in engineering. Speech on “ wie structure ” by Keyana Tenant, Program Manager, IEEE, WIE. Followed by Prof. Takako’s valuable talk Keyana Tenant, Program Manager, IEEE, WIE presented her talk on Importance of forming an affinity group, things to be done and the opportunities available for WIE members. Distribution of IEEE promotional items by Ms. Margaretha A. K. Ericksson, IEEE Region 8 Director-Elect, 2015-2016 Ms. Margaretha A. K. Ericksson as the IEEE Region 8 /Director-Elect, inspired the participants with her personal experiences on working as a woman in engineering field. Some IEEE WIE promotional items were circulated among the participants by the guests. Few words by Prof. Supavadee Aramvidth, IEEE R10 Cordinator The president of newly formed WIE affinity group, Dr. Maheshi Dissanayake invited Prof. Supavadee Aramvidth, IEEE R10 Coordinator to address the gathering. Distribution of Token of appreiation to the chief guest and others by newly elected office bearers With a gratitude from the IEEE WIE affinity group, Sri Lanka Section, all the guests were given tokens of appreciation for spending their valuable time for participating for the event and for the enormous encouragement given. Vote of thanks by newly appointed secretary and AGM was adjourned Finally Secretary Miss Lochana Wijayaratne delivered the vote of thanks by thanking all the distinguished guests for their valuable presence and valuable speeches. Also she thanked the newly elected chair , IEEE WIE affinity group sl, Dr. Maheshi Dissanayake for her guidance for a successful AGM. Then she acknowledge the contribution of IEEE WIE student branch uop for their presence and help. Also she requested all the members to provide their active contribution, during the year 2015, towards the success of the IEEE WIE Affinity group, Sri Lanka while thanking for their valuable presence at the AGM.
