Description

The first field visit of IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society University of Peradeniya Students' Chapter was successfully completed on 2nd July 2016 to Padukka Satellite Station and SLT Museum with the participation of Dr Aruna Gunawardhana, Dr Melaka Senadheera , Dr Ravi Wijesiriwardana ,final year ,third year and second year engineering undergraduates from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Participants were able to gain a lot of knowledge rel ated to telecommunication history, future communication plans and Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) Satellite communication technology with the guidance of SLT staff members. We as student chapter would be grateful to Eng. Indrani Hissalle Chair IEEE MTT-S Sri Lanka Section and Chief Human Resources Officer at Sri Lanka Telecom for her great assistance in arranging the event. Also we would extend our further gratitude to Sri Lanka Telecom Staff for providing refreshments and great hospitality thorough out the day. Furthermore we greatly appreciate IEEE MTT-S Sri Lanka Section for sponsoring on the event to make it a success. At the end of the event they were agreed to grant us a dish antenna by supporting IEEE MTT-S University of Peradeniya Student Chapters' ongoing project series and also a reading material was donated for the engineering library, University of Peradeniya. Participants enjoyed the visit a lot while gaining knowledge with the live experience and the event was succefully concluded with vote of thanks by Mr. Ishan Chandrasiri Chair IEEE MTT-S University of Peradeniya Students' Branch Chapter
