Widanagama Arachchige Dr. Rasara Samarasinghe Dr. Darshana Prasad Wadduwage The meeting was chaired by the Chairman, Dr. K.T.M.U. Hemapala. Dr. K.T.M.U. Hemapala welcomed the gathering and presented a summary of the activities conducted from December 2016 to date. Then, the Secretary, Dr. L. N. Widanagama Arachchige read the minutes of the previous Annual General Meeting, which was held on 19 th December 2016. Prof. K. M. Liyanage proposed that the minutes were in order with the minor correction: to include the member attendance and it was corrected by Dr. L. N. Widanagama Arachchige. With that correction, Prof. J. B. Ekanayake seconded that the minutes were in order and the minutes were unanimously confirmed. Next, the Treasurer Dr. S. Kumara presented the treasurer report and Prof. J. B. Ekanayake proposed that the treasurer report was in order. It was seconded by Dr. P. J. Binduhewa and the treasurer report was unanimously confirmed. The independent judicator, Prof. J. B. Ekanayake mentioned that Prof. M. A. R. M. Fernando was selected for the “Outstanding Engineer Award, 2016”. After presenting the service done by Prof. M. A. R. M. Fernando for the Engineering education, research and Engineering profession, Prof. J. B. Ekanayake presented the plaque to Prof. M. A. R. M. Fernando. Then, Prof. M. A. R. M. Fernando was appointed as the independent judicator for selecting a person for the “Outstanding Engineer Award, 2017”. Prof. J. B. Ekanayake then mentioned that Mr. Hasala Dharmawardhana was selected for the “Outstanding Young Engineer Award, 2016”. After presenting the service done by Mr. Hasala Dharmawardhana as a young Engineer, Dr. K.T.M.U. Hemapala accepted the plaque on Mr. Hasala Dharmawardhana’s absentia. As the former committee resigned from the posts, Dr. K.T.M.U. Hemapala invited the Chair-elect, Dr. P. J. Binduhewa in 2015/2016 to proceed as the Chairperson for the years 2017/2018. Then, nominations for the office bearers for the year 2017/2018 were called by Dr. P. J. Binduhewa. The following office bearers were elected unanimously. He highlighted the importance of encouraging the PES Student Chapters to organize more events. Vote of Thanks and the End of the AGM: Since there were no other issues to be discussed, the Secretory, Dr. L. N. Widanagama Arachchige gave a vote of thanks and adjourned the meeting at 6 pm.
