Annual General Meeting 2017-IEEE RAS Sri Lanka Section Chapter Venue: ENTC, University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka Date: 30/01/2017 Agenda Welcome Speech by the chairman and announcement Annual activity report presented by the chairman Annual financial report presented by the treasurer Election of the Office bearers Welcome speech by the new chairman Any other matters Vote of thanks by the new secretary Welcome Speech by the chairman and announcement The chairman IEEE RAS Sri Lanka Section Chapter (2012-2016), Prof. Rohan Munasinghe chaired the meeting and the secretary of IEEE RAS Sri Lanka Section Chapter,Dr. Ruwan Gopura reported. The chairman welcomed the gathering. Annual activity report presented by the chairman The chairman presented the activities of each year from 2012 to 2016. He further discussed about the following activities of IEEE RAS SL section chapter. o Robotics Meetups o Technical sessions o Workshops at conferences o Technical co-sponsorships for conferences o Support given to robot completions o Membership drive Annual financial report presented by the treasurer Dr. Jayathu Samarawickrama presented the summary of financial activities. Furthermore, a financial report was submitted to each presented member. Dr. Chandima Pathirana proposed that the financial reports were correct and Dr. Thilina Lalitharathna seconded it. Election of the Office bearers The election officer Dr. Sanath Jayawardane chaired this item. Dr. Ruwan Gopura was elected as the Chairman and he was nominated by Dr. Jayathu Samarawickrama and seconded by Dr. Chandima Pathirana. Mr. Tharindu Adikari was elected as the secretary. Following office bearers were elected at the meeting. He mentioned that improving the quality of IEEE RAS Sri Lanka Section Chapter service as his main target for the coming year. He further mentioned that he would fully support to continue Robotics meet ups, technical sessions, workshop at conferences and providing technical co-sponsorships to conferences. The new chairman would take actions to increase the memberships of the chapter. He requested members support to organize new relevant activities and few IEEE Distinguished Lecturer Programs (DLP). Any other matters Dr. Udayanga Hemapala suggested about the possibility of having DLP with MERCon 2017, which is technically co-sponsored by IEEE RAS Sri Lanka Section Chapter. The committee decided to discuss the matter with the organizers of MERCon 2017.
