Chandima Pathiranage Welcome by the chairman The chairman of IEEE RAS Sri Lanka Section Chapter, Dr Ruwan Gopura chaired the meeting and the assistant secretary of IEEE RAS Sri Lanka Section Chapter, Mr. Viraj Muthugala reported. The chairman welcomed the gathering. Confirmation of minutes Minutes of the previous meeting was tabled by the Chair. The members pointed out few amendments for the minutes. Mr. Kanishka Madusanka proposed that the amended minutes are in order and Dr. Buddhika Jayasekara seconded. Matters arising from minutes Dr. Ruwan Gopura gave an update about the Fourth Sri Lanka Robotics Meetup which will be held on 28 th of September 2017, 5.30 pm at the VirtusaPolaris auditorium. Annual Activity Plan for next year 2018 The committee discussed about the possible activities for the next year. Fourth Sri Lanka Robotics Meetup – September 2017 The chair gave an update about the robotics meetup and it was decided to have the robotics meet up as planned without any deviations. Wearable Technology Competition The chair requested an update from Chair of IEEE Sri Lanka section, Dr. Snath Jayawardena about the competition. Dr. Sanath Jayawardena mentioned that IEEE Sri Lanka section had declined the request for sponsoring the competition and then it was transferred to the IEEE IAS Sri Lanka section for consideration. Any other matters MERCon 2018 Conference and Workshop The chair mentioned that the official request for the technical sponsorship is yet to be received from the organizing committee of MERCon. Dr. Sanath Jayawardena suggested adopting a guideline for providing technical sponsorships for conferences as similar to the current procedure of IEEE Sri Lanka Section. Dr. Udayanga Hemapala mentioned about the possible shortcomings of having such a guideline. Transferring of membership rebate Dr. Sanath Jayawardena requested to send the bank details of the IEEE RAS Sri Lanka Section Chapter to the treasure of IEEE Sri Lanka Section in order to proceed with the transferring of membership rebate. Possibility of having a DLP The chair, Dr. Ruwan Gopura requested opinions from the members about having a DLP. Dr. Udayanaga Hemapala mentioned about the procedure of having DLPs. Dr. Buddhika Jayasekara inquired about the time taken for the process of DLP and committee decided to have a DLP in next year if possible. Dr. Sanath Jayawardena mentioned the possibility of having a resource for DLP from Circuit and System Society. Dr. Udayanga Hemapala was assigned as the coordinator of DLP. Collaboration with Centre of Excellence for Robotics and Automation (CERA) Prof. Rohan Munasinghe discussed about the possibility of collaborating with CERA for future activities such as applying for a grant. Workshops Dr. Thilina Lalitharatne suggested having a workshop in parallel with an event sponsored by RAS Sri Lanka Section Chapter such as a conference. -Signed- Assistant Secretary
