1. Discussing on Budget allocation from IEEE YP SL account to SYWL R10 Congress 2018 Considering the available total amount in the IEEE YP SL Bank Account, it is decided that the maximum amount that can be allocated for funding for the Congress will be 100,000 LKR. This amount will be divided among few selected applicants from the ExCom. Hence, members were encouraged to apply. Also, if we were able to find more fundings through events, the allocating amount can be increased. However, it is clear that Fundraising project needs to be organized to cover up this amount taken from the Bank Account by the end of the year. No objections were reported regarding this decision by the participated ExCom members. Hence, the decision was finalized. 2. Assigning responsibilities of next three main projects After successful completion of the very first event for the year 2018, “How to invest in the Sharemarket”, the next events to be organized by the society is highlighted. Below are the suggested projects inline, Technical Talk Session - May Third episode of the LETs Talk, series of talk need to be organized by end of May. A suggestion is made to organize a PES related talk by inviting Mr.Meegoda from IESL. Also, Chandana suggested a Techno Meetup with Dialog Axiata PLC. LETs Talk Project team Chaired by Dinuka Tharangani was informed to start working on that. LETs Talk Bigger Event - July As planned from the beginning of the project LETs Talk, a major event for the talk series is to be planned within the year. Organizing an event targeting a huge crowd along with reaching budget goals require a considerable effort. After discussing and briefing the event we understood one of the main part of this event will be inviting speakers with an attractive population among todays’ youth while having a direct relation to our event theme/topic. Following are the suggested speakers by the members, Rajitha -Thumindu Dodantenne, Peter D’Almeida, Kumar Sangakkara Chandana - Dian Gomes, Kishu Gomes Dheynoshan - Chevaan Daniel Yasitha - Suresh Rodrigo The next main item of the event is finalizing the Topic. Below suggestions were made by each member, Rajitha - Sciences and Art Chandana - Life Yasitha - Importance of Aesthetic in a Professionals life To begin with preparations, finalizing above points along with finalizing event date needed. Career Fair - August The project Co-Chairs, Rajitha and Yasitha were briefed about the event. A timeline is to be planned for them to ease when archiving the final target. 3. Deciding on a Fundraising Event Since budget allocations from IEEE YP SL bank account is to be done for members to participate to SYWC 2018 and so to make the bank account balance breakeven by the end of the year, fundraising events needs to be organized. Organizing a Musical Show with a veteran musician, Stage Drama Show and an Interview with a popular writer were popped up as suggestions. Respective members were informed to do a marketing research on this and report to the committee. 4. Other suggestions and notifications Former IEEE Student Volunteer Chamath Palihawadana from SURFEDGE agreed to help on working on the IEEE YP SL official Website. The meeting was adjourned by the chairman at 22.30 Hours.
