7th Excom meeting of IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka 2019

1. Welcome by the chair Chandana welcomed the excom and thanked everyone for their participation. 2. Career fair progress Nuwini informed that the planned venues for career fair cannot be reserved since University of Moratuwa exams are being held at the proposed venues during 27th September 2019. The exams are being conducted from 3 rd September to 30 th September and none of the planned venues are available during that period. Committee discussed about the possibilities of changing the career fair venue to another institute and the following suggestions were made. University of Colombo School of Computing (UCSC) University of Vocational Technology Arthur C. Clarke Institute Committee agreed to host the Career fair at the University of Moratuwa as originally planned and the career fair was rescheduled to 1 st of October. Nuwini informed that the next career fair workshop will be conducted at UCSC and it will be confirmed on 26/08/2019. Career fair registration count was only 16 on 24/08/2019. Nuwini will contact SB chairs and ambassadors to promote career fair within respective student branches. 3. Fundraiser Progress Chandana has handed over one ticket book to University of Peradeniya student branch. Ticket books must be issued to following student branches. UCSC Kelaniya University Jayawardanapura University IIT KDU Wayamba University : Warunika will coordinate Chandana informed that some of the tickets are planned to be issued at the following outlets. Sarasavi Bookshop - Will accept the tickets on 1 st week of September Sadeepa Bookshop - Agreed to accept tickets immediately Salaka Following matters were discussed regarding the event publicity. Chandana will inform Pasan Pethiyagode, Kavinga Ekanayake and Tharindu de Silva to promote the event among their colleagues and batch mates. Rajitha will promote the Facebook posts and Facebook event. Change the YP Facebook page cover to Ra Ira Paana. Several problems are being faced by the organizers and must be addressed immediately. Only 1 designer available for the event: Hasinthaka Only 1 video editor available for the event: Lakshitha Need someone to create animations (Suggested: Pasan) Need to find photographers to cover the event Following matters were discussed regarding sponsorships of the event. Toyota Lanka will provide a sponsorship of 25000 LKR in return which they requested to have a video to be played during the event. Chandana informed that there is a possibility of having a meeting with Orel Corporation on 26/08/2019 which would be arranged by Tharindu de Silva. Rajitha will follow up on the sponsorship opportunities with SLIIT and BOC. Dilum is contacting IIT for possible joint sponsorship for Fundraiser and SYWC. Akila has initiated a conversation with SLTC for possible sponsorship opportunities. Dheynoshan will follow up with Sampath Bank for possible sponsorships. Dheynoshan suggested to have student volunteers to be sent to collect advertisements for souvenir. 4. Other matters Akila and Nishika will write an article to the next edition of IEEE R10 Newsletter.
