GlamourFemme '19, organized by IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology was a career guidance programme focused on female undergraduates. The main objective of this project was to give undergrdergraduates an insight about career paths available in field of engineering and how to face problems and move forward as a female engineer, inspired by leading female engineers in the industry. 3 guest speakers joined with us to share their experiences in the industry; Ms. Ayanie Mathangaweera, Mechanical Engineer at Central Engineering Consultancy Bureau (CECB), Ms. Himali Zoysa, Deputy General Manager - commercial corporate at Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and Dr. Shiromi Karunaratne, Senior Lecturer from the Civil Engineering department of SLIIT. They explained the types of opportunities availabe in the industry and how to choose a suitable path in the fields of mechanical, electrical and civil engineering respectively. They also shared their experiences in the industry, how they faced obstacles successfully and thrived their way up to become who they are today.
