WIE SL Section – ExCom Meeting 01 21 st January, 2019 from 2130h – 2230h Venue: Online Meeting was initiated by the Chair of WIE SL Section for the year 2019, Dr. Windhya Rankothge Participants: Dr. Windhya, Heshani, Dilrukshi, Dulma, Dr. Jeevani, Akila, Abharna, Rasara Chair, Dr. Windhya initiated the meeting and welcomed the members. The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss the year plan of the section. After a self-introduction of the members, the Secretary requested the members to provide the contact details (email and phone number), by filling the shared google sheet. Then the Chair requested the members to provide their suggestions for the activities to be conducted throughout the year. Dilrukshi suggested to have a leadership boot-camp for student branch ExCom members. ExCom accepted the suggestion with delight. Dr. Windhya suggested to have a coding competition for female tech enthusiasts. Heshani suggested to organize a social program (members’ day out) to give a networking opportunity for the members and to have more popularity for WIE among the students and industry. Dilrukshi suggested to request the WIE members/ activists to bring their partners as well for the event, so that the WIE AG will receive the support of male members as well. ExCom agreed upon the suggestion. Further, an idea came up to organize an evening function with the collaboration of the industry, in order to enhance the industrial collaboration. Another suggestion came up to technical subject talks, in collaboration with the industry. Further it was decided to have membership development programs. Since there were various valuable suggestions, Dilrukshi suggested to prepare a brain storming sheet with all the suggestions and finalize the year plan. The meeting was adjourned at 2230h.
