Excom meeting 1- IEEE PES Sri Lanka chapter

The meeting was chaired by the Chairman, Dr. Asanka Rodrigo. The Chair welcomed everyone to the first EXCOM meeting and announced the agenda. The following matters were discussed: Reporting the PES Activities: Dr Sudheera Navaratne requested sponsorship for the first activity of PES SL chapter 2019: a guest talk on Renewable Energy – Opportunities, Key Challenges and Potential Solutions – 2019" together with IEEE Central Region Subsection (CRSS) and IESL Kandurata chapter which will be held on Tuesday, 19th March 2019, 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm at CEB Auditorium, Kandy. Request for Sponsorships: The sponsorship for the first PES SL chapter activity is approved by the Executive committee. Guest Lectures: Dr Asanka Rodrigo informed that a guest lecture will be organized at University of Moratuwa as the next activity. Status of PES Web site updating: Dr Asanka Rodrigo requested an update on the PES SL website from Mr. Ashan Bandara. Mr. Ashan mentioned that he got the admin credentials and Dr. Asanka requested to add the AGM, Annual get together as events to the website and update the Excom member information. Mr Ashan mentioned that the payment for the website domain for year 2019 should be processed. Status of PES Outstanding Award: Dr. P. J. Binduhewa informed that the PES Outstanding Award plank has not been received yet and he will be updating on handing over the plank once it is received. Activates for Membership Growth After the discussion on plans for membership growth it was decided that establishing PES student branch chapters at University of Jaffna, SLIIT, University of Jayewardenepura and University of Ruhuna should be initiated. Any other matter Ms Akila mentioned about the signature transfer for the PES SL bank account and Dr Sudheera Navaratne informed about the documents required. It was decided to have next Excom meeting after considering the availability of Excom members. Since there were no other issues to be discussed, the meeting was adjourned at 2:15 p.m.
