Grand Finale of IEEE Innovation Nation Sri Lanka 'Pre-accelerator'

The first cohort of IEEE Innovation Nation Sri Lanka Pre-accelerator came to a successful close after the final pitching competition on the 21st of December 2019 at Paradise Beach Hotel Negambo. The finale comprised of two pitching sessions both served as the stage to crown the best startups of the program. Ideally, it served as a platform to showcase the progress of the startup journey of the enrolled startups as well to make the business pitch to claim the title as winners. From the qualifier pitch, 5 startups selected to move forward to the final pitch that is the investors/startup accelerators founders pitch. The best 5 Startups were, Care-it, ArenaBuddy, ApneaCare, Cookoo Eats, and KID KIT. Following the selection of 5 teams, a round table session held to critically evaluate the selected teams to prepare them for the final pitch. Mr. Keerthi Kodithuwakku, Mr. Mazin Hussain, Mr. Suwin Amarabandu, Mrs. Nevindaree Premarathna proffered their invaluable contribution as judges at the finale, certainly was a great impact on the competition. Final pitch judge panel comprised of Mr. Eddie Custovic who is the founder of the IEEE Innovation Nation, Mr. Fathhi Mohammed, and Mr. Rohan Jayaweera. Following the final pitch, three startups recognized and awarded in the “IEEE Sri Lanka Section Awards Night 2019” at the IEEE Sri Lanka Section Student/Young Professionals/Women in Engineering Congress 2019 on 21st of December 2019 itself, at Wayamba University of Sri Lanka. Winners of the competition were, Winner - Apnea care 1st Runner up - KIDKIT 2nd Runner up - Cookoo Eats It is also an immense pleasure that, IEEE Innovation Nation Sri Lanka was awarded the ‘Best Industry Collaborative Project Event’ at the IEEE Sri Lanka Section Awards Ceremony.
