Description
The Master of Ceremonies of the event, Mr.Bathiya Thennakoon, announced the commencement of 3rd Annual General Meeting of Industry Application Society(IAS) Sri Lanka. The national anthem was played before starting the proceedings of the evening. The session was then handed over to the Chairman, Mr.Pamitha Kaluaratchi who welcomed all the participants and presented the activity report for the year 2018/19. In his report, he presented the current statistics of the IAS Sri Lanka chapter in the aspects of student branches and memberships and gave an overview of the activities of the previous year. Further, he highlighted the potential future steps for IEEE Industry Application Society Sri Lanka in the aspects of membership, student branch formation, student participation in IAS international competitions, and distinguish lecture programs. Then, the minutes and the financial report were read by the secretary and the treasurer respectively. Next, a guest speech was delivered by Mr.Channa De Silva, Software Engineering Director at Creative Software on ‘Work Life Balance’. As per the agenda, new office bearers were elected next. He stated that he would like to continue the work which is carried on from the past years, and explained about his journey as the Chairman of University of Moratuwa IAS Student Branch stating that his plan is to start new IAS Student Branches within his term. The next item was to discuss any further comments or questions where it was suggested to change the constitution to include a position for Assistant Secretary and to open up positions for final year undergraduates also who will be graduated during their term in the committee. The past secretary delivered the vote of thanks, thakiing the past executive committee for the activities done in 2018/19 and concluded by congratulating the newly appointed committee. Next the new chairman invited participants for the fellowship and the AGM was adjourned at 7.30 P.M.
