Description

This project was undertaken with the aim of orienting the undergraduates of University of Peradeniya about IAS and the many opportunities it offers to students to boost their academic and career aspirations. Mr. Lakshitha Gunasekara, the Chairman of IEEE IAS Sri Lanka Chapter started the session by introducing IAS and its activities as well as the competitions conducted annually. Next, Mr. Tharindu Suraj, Research Engineer at University of Moratuwa and Contest Winner of Myron Zucker Undergraduate Student Design Contest 2018 and IAS CMD Student Robotics Demonstration Contest in 2019, continued the session with a detailed presentation about IAS competitions and the students put forth numerous questions regarding the application processes, project management and reporting techniques. The undergraduates were very enthusiastic about IAS and it was a very interactive session where the speakers got to communicate effectively with the audience. The event was conducted as a collaboration between the IEEE Student Branch of University of Moratuwa, and the IEEE Sri Lanka Section provided the resource persons for the event.
