Description

The Annual General Meeting of IEEE Student Branch University of Moratuwa for the year 2019 was held on 16 th of August 2019 at New Auditorium, Department of Transport and Logistics Management, University of Moratuwa. The main purpose of the meeting was to elect Executive Committee members for IEEE Student Branch University of Moratuwa for the term 2019/2020 and to discuss the plans for the coming year. IEEE Student Branch Counselor Prof. Sisil Kumarawadu and Advisor of Computer Society Dr. Amal Shehan Perera were the Guest of Honor of the event. The event started with Chairman, Mr. Sapumal Walisundara, delivering the welcome note. The minutes of the last year Annual General Meeting was presented by the Secretary, Mr. Nalin Ekanayake and the financial report for the year was presented by the Treasurer, Mr. Vibhath Illeperuma. Then the Branch Counselor, Prof. Sisil P. Kumarawadu, addressed the gathering. The awards for the winning teams of MoraXtreme 2018 were also distributed at the event. After that, New executive committee members for the term 2019/2020 were proposed by the members and as there were no objections received, the office bearers for the term were announced. Mr. Umith Indula as the Chairman, Mr. Janith Randima as the Vice Chairman, Ms. Randima Hasanthi as the Secretary, Ms. Sandali Jayaweera as the Assistant Secretary and Mr. Pulindu Janith De Silva as the Treasurer took charge. Then office bearers of the Student Branch Chapters and WiE Affinity Group were announced. Certificates of appreciation were given to the outgoing Executive Committee members for their service to the Student Branch University of Moratuwa. The newly appointed Student Branch Chairman addressed the gathering mentioning the plans and visions of the activities for the coming year. The official function was ended with an address by the newly elected Secretary thanking the members for the active participation in the Annual General Meeting 2019.
