Perpetual 1.0 was organized by IEEE WIE Student Affinity Group of SLIIT. The event was organized in celebration of the International Women’s Day 2020. The event was themed “A gendeR’s pRomise to a gReen life.” The aim of this project was to create an awareness on the importance of the 3R system and a woman’s in saving nature. After the welcome speech by the IEEE WIE SLIIT chairperson, Nuwanthi Abeygunawardena, the guest lecture was started. The guest speaker of the event was Dr. Shiromi Karunaratne, Senior Lecturer from the Civil Engineering department of SLIIT. Also Dr. Pradeep Abeygunawardena - Branch counsellor of IEEE Student Branch of SLIIT and Dr. Windhya Rankothge - Affinity Group Supervisor of WIE Student Branch of SLIIT/ Secretary Of IEEE WIE Sri Lanka Section also participated for the event. Dr Shiromi Karunartne rendered an inspiring and motivational speech on the importance of developing a sustainable world and on how women play an important role in it. An interactive session was followed by the motivational speech. The session was a fun activity where all participants joined in and the wining team was awarded with a prize. The event was concluded by the WIE Affinity Group secretary, Rizma Nalmi, by giving the vote of thanks.
