Description
The Annual General Meeting of the IEE IES Student Branch Chapter for the term 2020/2021 was held virtually via zoom on 05th September 2020. The executive committee for the upcoming term was appointed after an election and the IES chapter was successfully initiated. The interim chair, Mr. Oshada Jayasinghe welcomed the guests and gave an introduction about the IES chapter and explained its goals and motives. The guest of honour, Mr. Kasun Tharaka who is the Deputy Manager (Operations) and a Senior Electronic Engineer at Paraqum Technologies gave a very thought-provoking speech about the current status of the electronic industry and how the IES Student Branch Chapter can be greatly benevolent for the undergraduates. The former IEEE Student Branch Secretary of University of Moratuwa, Ms. Randima Hasanthi acted as the election chair and carried out the election to appoint the executive committee members. The chapter advisor, Dr. Peshala Jayasekara delivered an inspiring speech explaining how the IES Student Branch Chapter can be of great value in bridging the gap between the undergraduates and the industry. Then the newly appointed chairman presented the year plan for the upcoming term describing the planned events for the year. The event was concluded after the vote of thanks by the secretary, Ms. Imalsha Gunasekara.
