PCB Design Workshop Part 01
August 24, 2020 · 11:00 AM - 2:30 PM @ Galle, Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna
Description
IEEE student branch of University of Ruhuna started the workshop series on PCB design on 24 th August 2020 with the participation of around 80 students. The workshop was conducted by final year undergraduates for more than 3 hours. The purpose of this workshop was to give a brief introduction on PCB design and explain the usage throughout the undergraduate time period and after the graduation as well. Initially, the ‘Proteus’ software was introduced and the fundamental knowledge on working on Proteus was provided. The software was distributed among the participants prior to the workshop with certain libraries. After giving the basic knowledge, simple circuit was created using NE5555 and uses of timers were described. The PCB was designed to that particular circuit after demonstrating the appearances of components and the practical issues we have to consider when designing PCBs. Basic techniques of preparing PCBs and the common tips and tricks a designer should follow, pros and cons of various PCB designs were explained before started to design the PCB. The feedback of the participants was satisfying as they practically involved throughout the session.
