IEEE Student Branch of the University of Ruhuna has organized a webinar series as a result of the pandemic and to make it effective. One of them was on ‘ Packet Tracer Software ’ as guidance workshops for ‘ Eminence 2.0 ’. Eminence 2.0 is the biggest event which is a competition organized by WIE Affinity Group University of Ruhuna . There are 4 main categories and tasks and one of the tasks which is the ‘ networking ’ task should be completed in Packet Tracer software. As assistance for that and also it is an important software in the industry, the webinar series was planned out. The workshop was held via Zoom on the 5 th of December 2020, from 4.30 pm onwards. The workshop was conducted over 2 hours with the participation of 72 students from every academic year. Initially, an introduction was made for the beginners about networking, how the routers and switches work, what the purposes of configuring routers are, and so on. Students were very cooperative throughout the whole workshop. Then, the students were asked to run the software on their own PCs and the interface and commonly used routers and other components were introduced and explained. A simple network was implemented and run to clarify the obstacles users face when using the software.
