PLES inaugural Annual General Meeting

Description
Pradeep Abeygunawardhana welcomed the participants of the inaugural Annual General Meeting. In his address, he revealed the initiations and process took place in forming the IEEE PELS Sri Lanka. Finally, Dr. Abeygunardena invited Prof. Ruwan Gopura who is the Chair of IEEE Sri Lanka Section. Ruwan Gopura thanked and congratulated to the team which initiated the formation of IEEE PELS Sri Lanka Chapter. The chair mentioned that the IEEE Sri Lanka section consists of one sub-section and nine society chapters. Prof. Gopura mentioned that the committee and the member of the PELS society Sri Lanka chapter should work on membership development and other activities for the benefit of the membership. Next election of office bearers for the year 2020/2021 was conducted. It was decided to have an 8 member committee with following positions: Chair, Chair-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, Editor, two committee members and student representative. It was unanimously decided to select Dr. Pradeep Abeygunawardhana as the founder chair of the IEEE Power Electronics Society Sri Lanka Chapter in recognition of the initiative taken to form the chapter. Then following members were appointed.
