Turn the Tide is a technical workshop series organized by the IEEE student branch of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University to provide technical knowledge and industrial opportunities for tech enthusiasts with the help of industry professionals. At the end of Turn the Tide technical series, our goal is to enlighten undergraduates by improving their programming and technical skills with the newest technologies. As the first step to the series, Turn the Tide: Python Online Workshop organized with the vision of giving our undergraduates fundamental ideas of python programming language and elevating their knowledge to the next level. The workshop was held on 5th of August 2020 from 6.30p.m to 9.30p.m through Zoom Learning Platform. By accepting our invitation, Mr.Anuradha Sanjeewa Wickramarachchi went along with us as the speaker of the day. Anuradha Sanjeewa Wickramarachchi is one of the proud products of University of Moratuwa and is a PhD Candidate at Australian National University. With a proven history of all technological aspects he researchers in the areas of Bioinformatics and Computer Science. Also, He was the winner of National Best Quality ICT Awards (NBQSA) in both 2016,2017 and the winner of idea challenge 2016,2017. He marked his name in Srilankan ICT arena with a history of IEEE Xtreme he joined with us to enlighten the youth. Registration for the event opened on 4th August. After receiving 220+ responses, the registrations have been officially closed on 5th August and We send out invitations to our lucky registrars who have been selected to attend the workshop. With the 200+ online participants we have been able to successfully conduct the very first Turn the Tide- Python workshop. It was a great success, our heartiest complement to our guest speaker for giving us the motivation to make the event a positive and memorable experience. And our immense gratitude to all of the participants for being a wonderful audience.
