What is GSOC? The Google Summer of Code (GSOC) a global program that matches students with open source. GSOC Uses free software and technology. & also related organizations to write code. The main idea is to get students involved in and familiar with the open source community. Goals of the Program Inspire young developers to begin participating in open source development. Help open source projects identify and bring in new developers. Get more open source code written and released for the benefit of all. GSOC's whole program is maintained by students, mentors & organizations. Importance of the program the student will get to learn about the working of an industry in just 3 months. The student's software development skills will be enhanced during this period. You will build a network of people having the same mindset. This webinar provides inspiration to university students who are interested in coding, as well as those who do not understand computer coding. This awareness session will be a milestone for Undergraduates who are interested in software development and for those who want to gain some knowledge about the Google Summer of Code. There is good industry exposure for competitors participating in Google Summer of Code due to the involvement of industry organizations in Google Summer of Code. The session was conducted by Kasun Vithanage who is the owner/ cofounder at Syeta labs. He was a mentor of Google Summer of Code for 1 year and 10 months and expert in software engineering field with BSc in computer engineering in University of Peradeniya. And he has work experience in, WSO2 – Software engineering intern Google Summer of Code / Joomla – Mentor, Ingame sp. z o.o. – Software engineer (present). Also, he has certifications in, Google Summer of Code 2018, LetMeHack 1st Runner Up, ACES Hackathon Winner and Google Summer of Code 2017. Project Objectives What is Google Summer of code?
