IEEE Student Branch University of Moratuwa paved the way towards the acceleration of professional development skills of the undergraduate community in Sri Lanka through their novel initiative “RISE UP MORA 2021” which was held from 6 th of March to 21 st of March 2021. Due to Covid-19 constraints, the event was held virtually which comprised a series of webinar and head-to-head mock interview sessions conducted by 24 leading companies in Sri Lanka. The last phase of Rise Up Mora took place on the 20 th of March, 2021. 26 leading companies allied with almost every discipline of engineering in the country, joined hands with IEEE Student Branch University of Moratuwa upon enhancing the interview skills of the undergraduates in University of Moratuwa through 250+ mock interviews. The companies collaborated with this massive event were Civil Engineering International Construction Consortium (Pvt) Ltd Resus Energy PLC Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology Sysco Labs Sri Lanka Calcey Technologies Liveroom (Pvt) Ltd Gapstars Creative Software 99X Technology Electrical Engineering Amithi Power Consultants (Pvt) Ltd RMA (Pvt) Ltd LTL Holdings (Pvt) Ltd Unilever Sri Lanka Ltd Chemical and Process Engineering Susrika MAS Fabrics Matrix Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering Dialog Axiata PLC SLT Mobitel Zerobeta Materials Science and Engineering Lanka Tiles Michelin Mechanical Engineering Ceylon Petrolium Corporation Textile and Apparel Engineering MAS Active Linea Intimo Teejay Lanka PLC Bureau Veritas Armana Group Ltd Brandix Apparel Ltd The interviews were held via a newly implemented web platform which simplified the process for both interviewers and interviewees and the platform was also built by the volunteers from the student branch. Major focused group of participants for the mock interview series was the 2 nd year undergraduates of University of Moratuwa as they would be the next batch from the university to go into the industry for industrial training. Lastly, it can be concluded that Rise Up Mora 2021, the latest initiative by IEEE Student Branch University of Moratuwa was an immense success and was able to create a worthwhile opportunity for the undergraduate community towards stepping into their dream career.
