The event ‘Stepping into the future with AR related technologies ’ is a webinar that was held virtually via Zoom on 13th May 2021 by IEEE IES Student Branch Chapter of the University of Moratuwa. The welcome speech was delivered by the event co-chair, Mr. Dhanuka Marasinghe and afterwards, the moderator, Miss. Sachini Wickramasinghe gave a brief introduction about the first guest speaker and invited him to lead the webinar. The first guest speaker, Mr.Achala Weerasooriya, the chief operations officer of Liveroom (Pvt) Ltd offered a brief overview of LiveRoom (Pvt) Ltd. Miss. Sachini Wickramasinghe, the moderator, then gave a brief introduction to the second guest speaker and welcomed him to inspire the webinar. Mr. Poorna Perera, the second speaker, holds a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the University of Colombo School of Computing. He currently works as a senior 3D artist and AR/VR developer at LiveRoom (Pvt) Ltd, has over 4 years of expertise in the fields of 3D graphics and programming and is well-versed in many aspects of augmented reality, virtual reality, and other new developing technologies. He conducted his speech providing a firm understanding of what augmented reality is and how it fits into the business marketing platform, and shared his vast experience in the field of augmented reality throughout his speech. Questions were raised by the audience through the slido platform where the speaker eagerly shared his expertise by answering them. The chapter advisor, Dr. Peshala Jayasekara addressed the gathering admiring the success of the event and expressed his views on the discussed topic. The event was concluded after the vote of thanks by the event co-chair, Miss. Udara Dharmapriya.
