The IEEE Computer Society of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) organize “CyberShield” with the aim of conducting an online information session which will be beneficial for the students. This will be a Cybersecurity event targeting students mainly from the computing faculty and students from other faculties are free to join as well. The fundamentals of Computer security will be the topic under discussion, and it will be an open event held online so that any student or undergraduate can participate. This event will be conducted on two days by two guest speakers. It will be streamed live on the IEEE Computer Society Facebook page and after the event there will be a Quiz and certificate awarding session for participants. The quiz may take place on Kahoot or as a google from entry. Everyone who successfully answered the quiz and participated on both days will receive a digital certificate. The main objective of this event will be to give a fundamental understanding for the students who are interested in the Cyber Security field and make them aware of the various security risks, threats and cybercrimes happening today. Participants will be given basic knowledge of the major topics of Cyber Security such as types of attacks, practices, Ransomware, Red Teaming, Penetration Testing, Hacking Tools, Career opportunities and Qualifications, Bug Bounty, Defense, and certain demonstrations of hacking. The event was an online webinar aimed at helping the students and undergraduates to stay aware of cyber threats and bring an interest to those who wish to pursue a career in Cyber Security. The webinar will be conducted on two days with two guest speakers. The webinar will be held on Zoom or Microsoft Teams followed by a quiz which participants can take part in and qualified active participants will receive a digital certificate from IEEE Student branch of SLIIT and IEEE Computer Society of SLIIT.
