The webinar on “Beginners’ guide to research communication” which is a part of MERCon 2021, is organized by the IEEE Professional Communication Society Student Branch Chapter of the University of Moratuwa. This webinar tries to outline the following points in terms of addressing the frequent questions a novel researcher would have. An introduction to different formats of academic/ research publications and their purposes An introduction to tools/ resource archives for a student entering to the research domain, An introduction to Citations, H Index, Impact Index etc Some tips on active Reading of scientific literature to obtain different levels of comprehension Writing to build an argument, best practices in scientific writing Visual Representations in Academic Writing Academic Integrity and Plagiarism in Academic Writing
