"STEP UP" WIE Awareness Session

Description
On the 20th of July 2021, an awareness program on IEEE WIE called "STEP UP" was held at 6 p.m. The program was started by Ms.Kulanthaki Paramalingam, Assistant Secretary of IEEE Women in Engineering Student Branch Affinity Group, University of Jaffna, who welcomed the keynote speaker and attendees. A word cloud was held before inviting the keynote speaker to find out what the audience thought about WIE. Ms.Warunika Hippola was then invited to deliver her presentation. She gave a brief overview of what WIE is, why we need it, who may be a part of it, and what WIE values might be. She also emphasized the mission and vision. She mentioned WIE's excellent programs and scholarships as well. Not only that, but she also shared her experiences on a lot of different levels. She responded to the questions posed by the audience at the end of her presentation. Then the virtual token of appreciation was offered to the guest speaker and the audience was invited to fill out the feedback form. Ms.Nishadi Sanjana, Webmaster of IEEE WIE SB Affinity Group, led an entertaining Kahoot session after the question-and-answer session. This session was designed to determine how much the audience knew about WIE and how attentive they were during the presentation. The Kahoot session was won by Ms.Chamodi Hansika. The keynote speaker, the advisor of WIESB Affinity Group, the committee members of the WIE SBAF and all other outstanding participants were acknowledged by the Junior Treasurer of IEEE WIE SB Affinity Group of UOJ, who gave the vote of thanks.
