The “Beyond the Horizon in Robotics” webinar of the IEEE IES Student Branch Chapter was held virtually via Zoom on 17th June 2021. The moderator for the event Mr. Varuna Gajoashan started the event and introduced the event co-chair, Mr. Surath Fernando who welcomed the guests to the event. The moderator gave a brief introduction about the event and the invited speaker. The guest speaker, Mr. Achala Athukorala who is a research engineer in Singapore University of Technology and Design and an expert in localization, path planning, robot operating systems and unmanned ground vehicles, gave a very informative and thorough speech about the field of robotics in the professional industry. Furthermore, Mr. Athukorala conducted a demonstration session which helped the audience to strengthen their understanding about the discussed topic. Afterwards, a very interactive Q & A session was carried out in order to allow the audience to clarify their problems directly from the guest speaker. The chapter advisor, Dr. Peshala Jayasekara addressed the gathering admiring the success of the event and motivated to arrange these kinds of sessions for undergraduates in the future. The event concluded after the vote of thanks was delivered by the event co-chair, Mr. Supun Kuruppu .
