In present there are some technologies ruling above other existing technological advancements, one of the major leading technologies are mixed realities. When it comes to mixed realities it’s a combination of virtual and augmented realities. Augmented reality is an enhanced vision of the real physical world that is achieved through the use of digital visual elements, sounds or other sensory stimuli delivered using technology The practical uses seem to be playing all around us. Even mobile phone applications certain websites use this technology to improve the reaching for their consumers and for better communication. The most valuable option provided using those technologies are to deliver a better idea on a specific thing; a product, service or even feelings. The most familiar usage of those realities are the ones which is vastly used in the field of communications, customizable emojis. The person can embed his or her feelings along with their personal look to an image for better communication. Also, not only when communicating but also with product marketing people use AR and VR to increase the reaches while letting people experience the real-world situations. Speaking more about experience MR will fill the gap in between illusion and sensing, where mixed reality components are having sensing devices to let the person feel the surrounding or the activity he she involved in. Heavily used in gaming industry now the trend is Mixed reality combined games, where the character is able to see him her during the game as the character. But if its only virtual reality the character will not be able to see him her personally but the character chosen for the gameplay. In addition to that some movie and entertaining industries also use the technology to feed people with more sensing needs to be delivered. Including all of the above-mentioned technologies students should have an idea how to use this digital illusion in their day to day lifestyle. Remembering that the project team through bringing an introduction to AR, VR and MR for the students interested in the field. The project Illusio was initiated having the main objective as providing students with the basic knowledge to get into the field. Once the project ideas were approved project chairman proposed the whole idea to the team while, team members were suggesting better ideas to be implemented and practical solutions for the error situations. Having a 3 weeks’ time plan project team mainly focused on PR while ensuring that all the students interested will be joining with the session. While seeking for the suitable resource persons available within Sri Lanka it was hard to find a person with experience and who is capable of delivering the knowledge in more descriptive way. Eng. Upulanka Premasiri was selected as the resource person for the webinar considering about his related background. Team also though about, how evaluate the knowledge students are gaining from the webinar, and as few of the team members suggested organizing a competition related to the topic will came out as the best option and idea at the moment. Sharing with the resource person, he also added key point needs to be included for optimizing the effectiveness of the competition. Considering about the background work team decided to have the competition week after the webinar so that students will be able to submit their ideas having enough time to proceed with. With the proper time plan and distributed tasks among team members the project was a success. As for the organizing committee Sarindu Shehan took the chair with the idea he brought up with, as for the secretary team lead by Thasindu Wickrama and followed by Prasadi Dissanayake and Neranjana Rashmi took the workload on the documentation process while program team which was led by Shehan Assan along with Nuwan Dhananjaya Jayani Nimesha and Manula Rajapakse did a great job organize the event perfectly. Along with the theme of illusion designing team did perform a great job during the pre-awareness through flyers and promo video where the team was led by Charuna Piyumantha and Tejana Balasinghe and Lakshan Ranasinghe. Project coordination was done by Sithum Pathinayake followed by Nipuna Ariyarathne while Ashane Wass was leading the publicity team who was followed by Sithmal Nonis. Shanal Dahanayake and Savindu Lakshitha took the responsibilities of the project from the technical background for running smooth all the media where the session was lively broadcasted over. During the project day the team arranged a test session beforehand to overcome technical issues and even during the session there were no interruptions. As Mr. Upulanka gave his fullest support the project participation increased up to 700 in the zoom online platform, as the team was expecting much more crowd they already planned to deliver the same session using YouTube live and Facebook live through the Facebook page of IAS SLTC and the YouTube channel of IEEE SLTC. Participants also joined with the session through YouTube and Facebook live sessions where the figures are more than 250 collectively. As the project work starts from 7th of May the team had enough time to manage with everything and think about every possibility to improve the value of the content as well as the delivery. As the technology related to AR VR and MR was new to Sri Lanka is was clearly seen that students are more focused and interested regarding the select topic during the Q and A Session. Once the webinar was over, the resource person was given with the specially designed digital plaque. And the teams’ focus was on organizing the competition. There the team first came up with having a competition related to the VR and AR but sooner they identified that there are some new ideas to be work on. Finally, the team along with the support of the resource person came up with having an idea to illustrate students’ creative ideas through digital illustration. At the end of the given time period there were more than 100 submissions. From those 118 submissions the best three was chosen by the a specially allocated committee from the organizing committee and under the guidance of Mr. Upulanka Premasiri. The winners were announced on 30th of July through social media.
