“Abstract Spot 2021” is a project organized by the IEEE Student Branch of Sri Lanka Technological Campus (SLTC) in order to provide an opportunity for every general public around the country to enhance their one paragraph summary writing skill. An abstract summarizes and illustrates the relevant aspects of a formal report, trade journal article, dissertation, or other long work. Its primary purpose is to allow readers to decide whether the entire work is to be read or not. Since abstract plays, a vital role in a report the importance of an abstract is to allow potential readers to determine whether the longer work is relevant to their projects. Therefore, the Abstract Spot 2021 will be beneficial for all the participants. The project will be mainly consisted of two sections such as Webinar on Abstract Writing and Competition on Abstract Writing. The both webinar and competition will be open for general public who are enthusiastic in summary writing and documentation field. This session will give the chance to expand their creative ideas and help to write a concise summary of an academic text in their degree programs. The webinar of Abstract Spot 2021 in the topic of “How to write an Abstract of a report” will be held on the 15 th of August 2021 at 7.00 PM via Zoom online platform. The topic will be covered with the essentials of what is an abstract, importance of an abstract to a report, process of organizing an abstract, characteristics of a well – organized abstract, what are the advantages of a good abstract to a report? The webinar will be conducted by the well renowned personality, Dr. Tharaka Ananda, Senior Lecturer at University of Sri Jayewardenepura. After the webinar, the competition based on Abstract writing will be under this section. The submissions will be opened from the 16 th of August 2021 to 23 rd of August 2021. The applicants are provided with the references to write their creative summaries. The applicants are encouraged to submit their summaries according to the given guidelines. The Submissions will be directed to a Judge Panel consist of two personalities. The best three abstracts will be selected as the winners and will be awarded with a certificate and cash prizes (According to the event sponsorship/partnership). All the Participants are awarded with a participation certificate. The feedback of the submitted summaries will be provided to the applicants via official mails. Also, we will be able to publish an advertisement in the “Daily Mirror” newspaper regarding the project and we hope to publish it before the webinar. The major implementations of the project “Abstract Spot 2021” are on the process and the promotions of the project will be started from 9 th of August. The webinar lineup and the structure of the competition has planned by the program team of the project while all the documentations are doing by the Secretary Team. All the flyers and the contents are creating by the Design team and content creation team
