Description

An induction ceremony to welcome new volunteers to the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of UCSC is held annually. Our aim is to expand our network so that we can empower more women in the IT industry and thus create a potentially good environment for all of us. The new members were explained what IEEE WIE is, the relationship between IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of UCSC and the other subsections of IEEE, what we have done during the past few years. The counselor of the IEEE Student Branch of UCSC, Mr. Gihan Seneviratne who is also a senior lecturer of UCSC, and our advisor Dr. (Mrs.) Shiromi Arunatilake who is also another senior lecturer was introduced. The current executive committee was also introduced to the new members to get familiarized with our society. A quiz was conducted to check their knowledge of our society and also to entertain themselves and all the participants engaged in it very enthusiastically. The events we are planning to organize this year were disclosed to them and they seem very eager to be involved in the organizing process.
