IEEE AwareCon was a beneficial webinar organized by IEEE Industry Applications Society, University of Ruhuna specially for first year students who just started their journey to let them know about IEEE society. Since IEEE is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity it’s important to get to know about the society and being part of it or working for IEEE is a rewarding experience for professionals from a variety of disciplines. As part of a global team, staff members can collaborate with a diverse set of colleagues whose talent and commitment to integrity make them one of the organization’s most valuable assets. Therefore, the IEEE student branch of University of Ruhuna organized this event. This was held successfully on 04 th of July 2021 through zoom platform with a participation of more than 100 participants . This helped them to get to know about IEEE society, benefits of IEEE society...etc. The information about IEEE society was discussed by Mr. Ruwantha Jayaweera. Mr. Yashodha Rupathunga shared the information about IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS). And the information about IEEE Woman Women in Engineering (WIE) was discussed by Miss. Lapalu Gunarathna. Mr. Akila Awantha shared his knowledge of IEEE Power &Energy Society (PES) in the event and Mr. Viraj Dissanayake discussed IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS). The ultimate conclusion of the webinar is to make sure the students are aware of the importance of IEEE society.
