Description

The Innov Drop was a webinar organized by the IEEE Student Branch, University of Ruhuna with the collaboration of the Industrial Application Society (IAS) with the aim of discussing patent creation and basic intro through new innovations. The webinar was intended for all undergraduates, graduates, and innovative people. This was successfully done on Sunday, 29th October 2021 at 10 AM through the zoom platform with the participation of over 80 enthusiastic innovators. The topic of the webinar was Patent Writing and the discussion was done under two points; Patent writing process and as an innovator, how to rise up in the industry. The guest speaker of the event was Prof. R.U. Halwathura is the youngest professor of Civil Engineering in Sri Lanka and is currently affiliated with the University of Moratuwa. It was a great opportunity for the participants as many key messages were disseminated in the webinar and the audience was made fully aware of the ways to make an idea realistic and how can an idea be used as a commercial tool. Vast knowledge on innovations was given in the webinar and many aspects were discussed. The speaker emphasized that,  How to rise up yourself as a thinker and innovator  The difference between innovator and inventor  Limitless boundaries of innovations.  How patents can help to rise up in the industry.  How can ideas be used as a commercialized tool? The program was more interesting as a lot of videos were provided by the speaker to a better understanding of the participants. At the end of the program, a questions and answers session was conducted and a lot of information was shared by giving answers to the questions raised by the audience. In conclusion, it was a good opportunity for all the enthusiastic innovators.
