We stand on the brink of a technological revolution that will fundamentally alter the way we live, work, and relate to one another. In its scale, scope, and complexity, the transformation will be unlike anything humankind has experienced before. The Fourth Industrial Revolution has been occurring since the middle of the last century and is characterized by a fusion of technologies that is blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological spheres. It is difficult to predict how this revolution will affect our life, but it is clear that it is already here with us. It is best to understand the fourth industrial revolution’s impact by linking core developments with the world’s most important pending problems. Biotechnology will play an increasingly important role in producing what we eat and what we use sustainably. Also, it will become more and more important in improving our health and healthcare system. Prolongate to the aforementioned concern this session was organized to discuss how the fourth industrial revolution is being unfolded and what biotechnology can deliver in the era of the fourth industrial revolution.
