Robotricks 21/22 - Phase 2 - Webinar 3-Motion Control for Robotics Applications

September 15, 2021 · 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM @ Online event

Description

The third webinar of Robotricks 21/22, phase 2, organized by the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society, the student chapter of the University of Peradeniya, was held on the 15 th of September 2021 from 6.00 pm onwards via the Zoom platform. The webinar was conducted by a Professor in the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Peradeniya, who has worked in control robotics and automation areas. He has also made over 50 scientific publications, and currently, he is the advisor of the student chapter IEEE Industry application society at the University of Peradeniya. The webinar was opened for all the undergraduates interested in Robotics and who plan to succeed in the Robotics Industry in the future. The main topics discussed were, Robot modelling Controller design Controller parameter tuning for unknown systems Common problems in controllers and solutions Controller implementation in microprocessor environments At the commencement of the event, an introduction of the keynote speaker was delivered. Afterwards, Prof. Lilantha Samaranayake started to discuss Motion control for Robotics applications. As a basic, he clarified how to model a gear train with mathematical simulations. Next, the fundamentals of modelling different kinds of DC motors were discussed, and also the theories of mobile robot platforms were described step by step. Further, he clarified the motion, speed and position control for mobile robots. At the end of the main session of the guest speaker, the participants were able to lighten their minds in the Q/A session, where they were able to get answers to a lot of questions and clarify their doubts regarding the Motion control for Robotics. Finally, to remark the end of the third webinar of the webinar series , the Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr. Udula Ranasinghe, the secretary of IEEE Robotics and Automation Society.
