Description
Step into IES, the very first chapter event of the IEEE IES Student Branch Chapter for the term 2021/2022 was held virtually via Zoom on the 20th of September 2021. After the teaser video about IES, a very thorough introduction to IEEE IES was given by the chapter chairman, Mr. Deepana Ishtaweera, marking the beginning of the event upon the invitation of the moderator, Ms. Nisanya Pathirana. After that, an extremely valuable announcement was made about the opportunity to participate in IEEE IES SYP Competition 2021 with a chance of winning amazing cash prizes. Next, the chapter advisor, Dr. Peshala Jayasekara addressed the gathering and gave his insights about the progress of the chapter. Next was the most important session of the event, the Tech Talk, introduced by the chapter with the intention of providing a platform for student members to showcase their research work and other technical experiences. For Step into IES, the tech talk was conducted by Ms. Sachini Wickramasinghe and Mr. Gayangana Leelarathne on “LED blink to the real world”, which discussed controlling LED arrays in an industrial setting. Next up were the fun events for the evening. A kahoot session was conducted by the moderator relating to the knowledge discussed in Step into IES talks. After that, participants were divided into breakout rooms for a friendly chat and a fun filled puzzle solving session. The event was concluded by the moderator, after announcing the winners of the puzzle solving session.
