The Internet of Things (IoT) was chosen as the main focus of “InnovMind ” as it is currently one of the most trending topics worldwide. IoT (Internet of Things) is the concept of the collection and transfer of data over a wireless network which includes interrelated computing devices, digital and mechanical machines, and other objects. Living in an age where every industry is leaning towards digitalization, IoT is currently being considered as the bridge between the two worlds. “InnovMind” was held under four exhilarating phases, Introductory Webinar Four-Day Workshop Series Ideathon Panel Discussion The IEEE Industry Applications Society Student Branch Chapter of Sri Lanka Technological Campus is proud to mention the success of InnovMind. Owing to the modernized concept of InnovMind, the project was capable of obtaining over 2600 registrations which included over 500+ international registrations. One of the great achievements of InnovMind is that we have been able to bring together Young Innovators not only from across the country, but from more than 20 countries around the world on a single platform. The virtual competition "InnovMind-Ideathon" was the project's third phase, and it provided participants with the chance to demonstrate their innovation skills using the knowledge learned through the InnovMind workshop series. This was the first ever Ideathon launched by SLTC IEEE. InnovMind Ideathon was received 62 submissions from both local and international competitors. Including 9 International Innovative ideas. Since the Ideathon was opened for the submissions from both individuals and Teams which have maximum 03 members, we were able to take over 100 Young Innovators around the world on a same platform. To announce the winners of the InnovMind Ideathon and officially end InnovMind, the Grand Finale of InnovMind was conducted on the 24 th of October 2021 at 06.00pm (GMT +05.30) on the virtual platform of Zoom. To organize a session to crown the winners of the InnovMind Ideathon and inspire all the participants, two high profile dignitaries were invited. Ms. Simay Akar - Vice Chairman, Membership IEEE Student Activities Committee and Dr. Chamira Edussooriya – IEEE Executive Committee Member, IEEE EAC Chair, Sri Lanka Section were invited as the Chief Guest and Guest Speaker respectively. Both dignitaries accepted the invitations gracefully. Also, the Marketing Teams of Zone24x7 and ImpactIT solutions (Pvt) Ltd, All the 6 Resource Persons of InnovMind Workshop Series, Executive Committee members of IEEE Student Branch of SLTC, project advisors of InnovMind and all the Participants of InnovMind Ideathon were invited for the Grand Finale of InnovMind. The main publicity strategy for the InnovMind Grand Finale was sharing promotional material via social media platforms. Publicity started on the 20 th of October 2021 (03 days prior to the day Grand Finale). Invitation emails were sent out to the guest dignitaries, IEEE Student Branch of Sri Lanka dignitaries and participants of the InnovMind Ideathon. The Organizing Committee joined into the meeting at 04.00pm (GMT +05.30) to ensure all technical aspects were in check. Participants joining to the Zoom meeting were limited to the waiting room until the event was underway. At 06.00pm the participants were accepted into the Zoom meeting. The moderators Shakil Arifeen and Kaminda Perera initiated the proceedings by providing a description on InnovMind. Sasya Senarath, Chairman of the IEEE Industry Applications Society of Sri Lanka Technological Campus welcomed all dignitaries and participants. Mr. Niroshan Karunarathna - Tech Lead at Zone24x7, was invited to address gathering on behalf of the judge panel of the Ideathon. Mr. Niroshan Karunarathne explained the role of the Judge board and what was considered in the marking. And also, he expressed his views on InnovMind and praised the organizing committee of InnovMind for the immense success. The Winner for the Most Popular Innovative Idea Contest was announced afterwards. Dr. Chamira Edussooriya was invited to address the gathering after an introductory video of his achievements. Dr. Chamira Edussooriya provided highly positive feedback on InnovMind, further congratulated the organizers and motivated all participants to achieve to their highest potential. The 2 nd runner up and 1 st runner up of the InnovMind Ideathon were announced by Dr. Chamira Edussooriya afterwards along with a brief introduction by the moderators. A specially designed plaque was provided as a token of appreciation from the organizing committee. The Chief Guest Ms. Simay Akar was invited to address the gathering following a highly descriptive introductory video covering the accomplishments and positions. The IEEE Industry Applications Society of Sri Lanka Technological campus was proud to mention that it was the first time in history a dignitary similar to the significance of Ms. Simay Akar had attended an event organized by an IEEE Student Branch of Sri Lanka. Ms. Simay Akar expressed her gratitude and complimented the IEEE Industry Applications Society of Sri Lanka Technological Campus for organizing an event which connected individuals internationally and for sharing knowledge for the betterment and good development of the world. Ms. Simay Akar invited the IEEE Student Branch of Sri Lanka Technological Campus to stay in touch for future events. A specially designed plaque was provided to Ms. Simay Akar for gracing the event as the Chief Guest. The Champions of the InnovMind Ideathon were then announced by the Chief Guest Ms. Simay Akar. A quiz on Kahoot was underway hosted by the 02 moderators and the winner was awarded a Limited Edition InnovMind Gift pack. The event was ended by the vote of thanks by the Co- Chair of InnovMind Neranjana Rashmi. Winners of the Ideathon were informed and contacted by the Organizing Committee for the future works of their prizes. The Grand Finale of InnovMind concluded officially ending the exhilarated successful project InnovMind, which proceeded for about one and half a month.
