HackTron v1.0 – RISEUP Day 01 - Future of IT Industry

To enhance that aim, we have planned to launch the project; “HackTron v1.0” with highly motivated participation of over 30 universities in Sri Lanka through 90 - degree programs related to the Information and Communication Industry under two main chapters as Bootcamp and Hackathon. We have used Facebook live, Twitch, YouTube, and Zoom platforms to conduct this entire phase. Our key goals for this project were: To broaden the game development community in Sri Lanka Encouraging young undergraduates who are interested in the game development industry Provide an opportunity for undergraduates to enter the industry Supporting game development companies by creating highly skilled game developers Creating a collaborative space to build a community in the game development industry Making a new revival in the game development industry in Sri Lanka and winning the global stage. The entire event was completed in approximately eight weeks with two chapters; a 10-day Bootcamp available to all island-wide enthusiasts intrigued by the game development sector, and a 6-week Hackathon open to all inter-university undergraduates. Parallel to both chapters, a Panel Discussion named “RiseUp -Industrial talks with entrepreneurs” was held for 3 days about the Game Development Industry and its startups with the presence of well-recognized entrepreneurs. On 29th October 2021, the 1st day of the start-up session, Future of IT Industry happened. It was conducted by Mr. Tharindu Dassanayake from ShoutOUT Labs and mainly covered the topic Future of IT Industry as well as discussed the Story of ShoutOUT Labs and Opportunities in the IT Industry. Moreover, he expressed his experiences with participants. About 75 live participants were engaged with the 1st day of the “Riseup” session through Youtube live and Facebook live. Throughout the session, about 35 minutes were allocated to answer the questions from the participants. Dr. Dammika Elkaduwa and participants asked their questions from panelists and he provided the answers with a good explanation. Finally, the session was successfully ended by providing a new experience to the participants and a wealth of knowledge.
