HackTron v1.0 - Final Round of Hackathon

To enhance that aim, we have planned to launch the project; “HackTron v1.0” with highly motivated participation of over 30 universities in Sri Lanka through 90 - degree programs related to the Information and Communication Industry under two main chapters as Bootcamp and Hackathon. We have used Facebook live, Twitch, YouTube, and Zoom platforms to conduct this entire phase. Our key goals for this project were: To broaden the game development community in Sri Lanka Encouraging young undergraduates who are interested in the game development industry Provide an opportunity for undergraduates to enter the industry Supporting game development companies by creating highly skilled game developers Creating a collaborative space to build a community in the game development industry Making a new revival in the game development industry in Sri Lanka and winning the global stage The second chapter of the project, Inter-University Game Development Hackathon consists of three main rounds as First Round, Semi-final Round, and Final Round. The Final Round of the Hackathon happened on 13th November 2021. Mr.Yasith Sirisena From Prodigi Interactive and Mr.Thilina Premasiri from Arimac Lanka, the industry experts of game development participated as the judging panel of the Final Round. The selected 10 teams to the final round are CodeRunners, Vanity, Team Eureka, Gladiators, Team Willow, Team Freatz, Team Phoenix, The Crossfire, Team Game masters, and Team Untitled. Here, they were invited to demonstrate their developed game in front of a judging board with a presentation and a demo video within the allocated time slots for 5 minutes via the zoom platform. Afterward, the judging panel commented on each team after their presentation and asked questions regarding their developed game. Among them, the winner, the first runner-up, and the second runner-up were selected. About 92 live participants were engaged with the final round of the Hackathon through Zoom, YouTube, and Facebook platforms.
