HackTron v1.0 –Semi-final of the Hackathon

To enhance that aim, we have planned to launch the project; “HackTron v1.0” with highly motivated participation of over 30 universities in Sri Lanka through 90 - degree programs related to the Information and Communication Industry under two main chapters as Bootcamp and Hackathon. We have used Facebook live, Twitch, YouTube, and Zoom platforms to conduct this entire phase. Our key goals for this project were: To broaden the game development community in Sri Lanka Encouraging young undergraduates who are interested in the game development industry Provide an opportunity for undergraduates to enter the industry Supporting game development companies by creating highly skilled game developers Creating a collaborative space to build a community in the game development industry Making a new revival in the game development industry in Sri Lanka and winning the global stage. As the second chapter of the project, it consists of 36 days of Hackathon. On 26th October 2021, the semi-final round of the hackathon happened from 3.00 PM to 6.00 PM. Mr. Yasith Sirisena from Prodigi Interactive, Mr. Pasindu Gunathilaka from Prodigi interactive, Mr. Ravindu Cooray from RAM Studios, and Mr. Prabath Megha from RAM Studios were the judges of the semi-final round of the hackathon. About 26 teams, consisting of 94 participants were engaged with the semi-final round through the zoom platform in their allocated time slots which consisted of 10 minutes for each. Moreover, the 26 teams were respectively divided into two groups as Group A and Group B for time management. Therefore, Mr. Yasith Sirisena and Mr. Prabath Megha were the judges of Group A and, Mr. Pasindu Gunathilaka and Mr. Ravindu Cooray were the judges of Group B. In the semi-final round, each team was invited to provide their gaming idea to the panel through a proposal and pitch it Infront of a live judge board. Afterward, the judges were invited to make comments on it and ask questions regarding their proposals. Finally, the judge board will select ten gaming ideas as the top-ten gaming ideas and they will be selected to the final round of the hackathon.
