Description
The Annual General Meeting of the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Vavuniya was held online on the 09 th of October 2021 from 7.00 pm to 8.45 pm via the Zoom platform. The event started at 7.00 pm with the lighting of the virtual oil lamp by the guests. Next the branch counsellor Mr.T.Kartheeswaren delivered the welcome speech. Then the former Secretary read the minutes of the past AGM-2020. After that, the Vice-chancellor of the University of Vavuniya, Dr. T. Mangaleswaran gave a speech and then the selection of the new Executive members was done by the election officer Dr. Sanath Jayawardana former IEEE Chair - 2017/18, and Senior Lecturer from the University of Moratuwa. The first nomination was called for the Secretary position, Miss.S.Shihama(2016/ICT/13) proposed Miss.Himaathri Premakumar as the Secretary who was seconded by Miss.R.Rinusga (2017/ICT/42). Miss Chathudya Jayewardene was selected as the Chair of the student branch who was proposed by Mr. K.Dinith Sithunash(2015/ASP/57) and seconded by Miss.B.Sangeetha(2015/ICT/59). Next Mr.Vithyasaghar Thavendrn was selected as the Vice-Chair of the student branch who was proposed by Mr. DhamithKumara (2017/ICTS/07) and seconded by K.Thadchayiny (2017/ICT/27). Next Mr.T.Abiramithan was selected as the Treasurer of the student branch who was proposed by Miss.S.Sanjana(2016/ICTS/08) and seconded by Miss.Y.Sankavai(2016/ICTS/03) Next Miss Amutha Kunarethinam was selected as the Event Coordinator of the student branch who was proposed by Miss.Farwin Hathiya(2016/ICT/24) and seconded by Miss.T.Sankavi (2017/ICT/76). Next Mr.Dhamith kumara was selected as the Web admin of the student branch whom was proposed by Miss.Hiruni Jayasinghe (2017/ICT/13) and seconded by Miss.S.Elakkiya (2017/ICTS/05). According to the nomination the committee details are as followed, Chair - Miss.Chathudya Jayawardena Secretary - Miss.Himaathri Premakumar Vice Chair -Mr.Vithyasaghar Thavendrn Treasurer - Mr.Abiramithan Thavayoganathan Event coordinator - Miss.Amutha Kunarethinam Web admin -Mr.Dhamith kumara The newly elected officers were present and accepted their offices and began to discharge their duties. Following the election, Dean of the Faculty of Applied science Dr. (Mrs). A. Nanthakumaran gave her speech. The speech of our guest Dr.Sanjeeva Witharana, was followed after the dean’s speech. Then the Dean of the Faculty of Technology delivered his speech and a photography session with the guests was followed up. A game session on the Kahoot platform was held after the photography and then the welcoming speaker Mr.Indrajith Ekanayake, section lead at IEEEXtreme 15.0 delivered his speech. Finally, the event was winded up with a vote of thanks from the newly elected student branch chair.
