The webinar ‘ Robotics for Mankind ’ was held virtually via Zoom on 25th N ovember 2021 by IEEE IES Student Branch Chapter of University of Moratuwa. The moderator for the event, Ms. Heshani Munasinghe commenced the event and introduced the event co-chair, Mr. Darsha Hewavitharana who warmly welcomed the guests to the event. After that the keynote speaker for the event, Prof. Thrishantha Nanayakkara was introduced and was invited to conduct the session. Prof. Thrishantha Nanayakkara, a world class resource person is currently the director of Morph Lab at Imperial college, London. He is also the present chair of the Imperial Robotics Forum consisting of 44 Robotics Principal Investigators. He conducted a very informative session focusing on Embodied Intelligence paired with Soft Robotics, a newest technology that enables robots to learn and perform a wide range of tasks . Furthermore, he discussed career opportunities and research areas related to the field of robotics. Upon conclusion of the speech, a Q&A session was conducted by the moderator and questions were raised by the audience, which were thoroughly answered by the speaker. The chapter advisor, Dr. Peshala Jayasekara addressed the gathering admiring the success of the event and expressed his views on the discussed topic. The event was concluded with the vote of thanks by the event co-chair, Mr. Vimukthi Rajith.
