Computer Vision and Image Processing 2022 “Computer Vision and Image Processing” is an annual event which was organized by the IEEE Student branch, University of Ruhuna. The event for the year 2022 was held on 12 th and 13 th of January from 03.00PM to 6.00PM via zoom platform. This was an open for any undergraduate in Sri Lanka. First day 150 participants were present and on the next day around 50 participants were present. This is organized annually especially targeting the new intake batch of Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna and other interested students. The workshops target to introduce Image Processing techniques with OpenCV and Deep Learning with PyTorch. A registration form was shared among undergraduates to take a count of participants and to join them into a WhatsApp group in order to share the required links and files for the workshop. The following content were covered in the two days of workshop. Introduction to Image Processing & OpenCV Basic Functions in OpenCV Advanced Functions in OpenCV Warp Perspective Color Detection Shape Detection Face Detection Above parts were covered in the 6 hours of the 2 workshops. Deep learning part was not able to cover due to time limitations. There is a plan to conduct another workshop on Deep learning later. The both days were conducted by one speaker. Eng. Chulendra Wibhavashakthi Eng. Chulendra is currently working as a Data Engineer at Axista Digital Labs and he was a former R&D Software Engineer at Wavenet Solution (Pvt) Ltd. He was graduated with BSc. (Hons) in Electrical and Information Engineering from University of Ruhuna in 2019 and he is also an Associate Member of IESL (AMIESL) since 2019. First, he briefly talked about the usage and importance of Image Processing and directly went into the content. Then he explained on the process of installing the required utilities and software required to follow along with him in the 2 days of workshops. A zip folder consisting of all the pictures that were used to analyze in the workshop was shared in the Zoom chat box and the WhatsApp group. He explained all the code snippets typed live on the screen gradually teaching the basics of Image Processing. Then he shifted into practical uses of image processing using the taught snippets in different and useful ways. The recordings of the workshops were uploaded to the official YouTube channel of the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Ruhuna and shared among the participants.
