Awareness session on IoT and Robotics

“An Awareness Session on IoT & Robotics” which was organized by the IEEE WIE Student Branch Affinity Group of University of Jaffna (IEEE SB AF - UoJ) was successfully conducted at the Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science on 26th of February 2022. The main objective of this event was to give an awareness on IoT and Robotics and make them aware of the current demands and trends in these domains. The targeted audience of this initiative was undergraduate girls of University of Jaffna. Other than that, this workshop was open to anyone interested in participating. IEEE SB AF - UoJ got 400 $ to conduct this workshop from the WIE Special fund for the year 2021. Raspberry Pi 4-2 gb, B2 UNO, Bread board, Wire cord 1.8M, and Camera module were bought using this fund. Among the 112 registrants, 95 participants have gathered for the awareness session from 9.00 AM to 1. 00 PM. The following three resource persons from University of Moratuwa have joined virtually for this session and they delivered interesting speeches in IoT and Robotics. Professor Rohan Munasinghe - IoT and Robotics Professor Ruwan Gopura - Bionic Limbs in Biorobotics Professor Buddhika Jayasekara - Intelligent Service Robotics Clear understandable answers were given to the students from the guest speakers from University of Moratuwa. After the lunch break, the hands-on session started at 2.30 PM at the main lab of the Department of Computer Science. The following two persons were willing to serve as resource persons for this evening session. Mr. Kalaineethan Thayaparan, Founder of AIRIIS Company. Ms. Mayuravaani Mathranathan, Lecturer (Probationary), Department of Computer Science. It was a very interesting session and a great experience for all the IoT enthusiasts participants. The workshop concluded at about 5.00 PM.
