Arduino Workshop Day 2
November 25, 2021 · 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM @ Online event
Description
The Robotics Club of Mahinda Rajapaksha College, Mathara, requested the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society of University of Peradeniya to facilitate the second day of their Arduino Workshop for children aged between 13 years to 17 years. The college Robotics Club was a new initiative, but up to date, few innovative robot designs have been made by the children. Therefore, to enhance their knowledge and scoop the best out of them, they have decided to organize an Arduino Workshop, where all the equipment that are needed to create the robots were given by the school. For us, it became an excellent opportunity to expand our services to society. So, we were able to cover the required materials in two days, on the 18 th and 25 th of November, via the Zoom platform. The second day was the questions and answer session, and it went on from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The session was conducted by Aftab, and it was really useful for the kids as they had enough time to do the things taught on day 1 and test for the results. Then the problems that arose for them was raised there. For both days, committee members of IEEE, RAS UoP gave their contribution in order to help Nadun and Aftab. Especially Mr. Primash Morapitiay, Mr. Pulasthi Perera, Mr. Udula Ranasighe, Mr Kesara Wagachchi, Mr. Avishka Ranasighe, Miss. Uthpala Ratnayake, Mr. Trilanka Beddegama and Miss. Poorni Maduthisari were there as instructors to solve the issues of the children. At the end of the session, we all were granted a special award by the college principal for helping the kids to achieve their dreams, which proved our workshop was a great success.
