The registrations were open for a duration of two weeks after the project launch event which was held in grandeur. “How to create your CV like a pro?” was a one-day workshop on the 23rd of March 2022 from 6.30 pm onwards via Zoom, tailored for different degree programs. Industrial talent acquisition HR specialists enlightened the registrants on how to create their CVs fitting the industry expectations. The guest speakers and panelists for the session were Ms. Sasini Withana, assistant manager of HR at Fortude and lead recruiter for Fortude, Mr. Manoj Pilimatalawwe, executive director at George Steuart and Company Ltd., Mr. Havindra Gunawardane, Professional Development module leader and Lecturer at Informatics Institute of Technology. After the insightful panel discussion, a Google form was shared for the participants to submit their current CVs to get valuable feedback at the one-on-one CV review session. The next phase “Student mentoring session” was held on the 9th of April 2022 where experienced mentors provided one-on-one CV review sessions for all registrants who submitted their CVs. Each registrant was allocated 15 - 30 minutes to obtain valuable feedback on their CVs, and they were given insights on how to improve their CVs to a professional level and tailor them according to the industry requirements. The student mentoring sessions and the following events were conducted with the collaboration of the IIT alumni association. The next phase was the “How to face an interview?” session held on the 10th of June 2022 which aimed at improving the character and skills needed to face the upcoming interview with confidence. Guest speakers Mr. Lahiru Aravinthakumar, COO of Rooster Technology, and Mr. Chamil Kandanmby, associate tech lead at 99x enlightened the audience with tips on how to use their soft skills and tech skills to nail their next interview. The final phase of IndustPro 1.0 “Let's know about your dream company” happened with the collaboration of reputed companies in Sri Lanka held for three consecutive days with the intention of having internships for placement year undergraduates at IIT. The idea of the working environment, internships offered by the companies, and a dive into what they could expect from the internship were shared with the participants.
