Brainstorm, the premier Biomedical Engineering competition in Sri Lanka organized by the student branch chapter of IEEE EMBS at University of Moratuwa was conducted for the third consecutive time this year. Registrations for the competition were opened in September 2021. Over fifty teams of university undergraduates from all over the country registered for the competition by submitting their proposals. Twenty teams were selected for the semi-final round. Out of those, ten teams were announced as finalists in January 2022. Along with the competition a workshop series, consisting of four workshops was carried out to sharpen the knowledge of contestants or any other biomedical engineering enthusiast. Reaching the climax of six-month journey, Brainstorm 2021- final round was held in February 2022. Team Mechafist from ICBT Campus and Team Newnorm from General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University won first and second runners-up respectively. As a special award, the Unilever sustainability award was presented to team Medviotrix of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.
