Pitstop 4.0

December 17, 2022 · 3:30 AM - 11:30 AM @ Malabe, Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology

Description

The WIE Affinity Group of the IEEE student branch of Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) and the IMechE Student Chapter of SLIIT are planning to organize “Pitstop 4.0” with the main aim of developing the fundamental skills needed for basic automobile handling. The less participation of women in the automobile industry has become a growing problem. It was found that most of the women have faced challenges in adjusting to the automobile industry. Even though it was seen that many women drive their own vehicles, the knowledge they have in diagnosing a technical problem in the vehicle is significantly less. Automobiles are gender-neutral products. Men and women should work together in designing and manufacturing automobiles because it adds different dimensions to the product, which will be widely accepted by consumers. This helps to generate revenue and increase the profitability of an organization. But certainly, there is a road ahead for women to engage, enrich and prosper in the automobile industry. Motivation is needed to find that path, and to involve more of the woman workforce in the automobile industry. In order to bridge this gap, PITSTOP 4.0 is to be organized mainly targeting the female undergraduates of the university, but male undergraduates are also definitely welcome. The workshop will focus on giving several practical real-world scenarios of automobile handling and troubleshooting.
