The Annual General Meeting of the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Vavuniya was held on 13th of October 2022 at the university premises from 9.30 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. The event started at 9.30 a.m. with a lightning oil lamp by the guests. Next the Branch Counsellor Miss. P. Shorubiga delivered the welcome speech. Then Prof. T. Mangaleshwaran gave his speech. Then former Chair Miss. Chathudya Jayawardena read the minutes of the last AGM 2021 and the financial report for the year was presented by the Treasurer, Mr. Abiramithan Thavayoganathan. Then Prof. Pradeep Abeygunawardana Chair, IEEE Sri Lanka Section, gave his speech, and then the selection of the new Executive members was done by the election officer Mrs. Maithily Thayaparan Chief Engineer, Ceylon Electricity Board. The first nomination was called for the Secretary position, Ms. K. Keerthana (2017/ICT/72) proposed Ms. Bhathusha Thushianthan as the Secretary who was seconded by Ms. R. Rinusga (2017/ICT/42). Mr. Kavishan Madhan was selected as the Chair of the student branch who was proposed by Mr. T. Vithiyasagar (2017/ICT/68) and seconded by Ms. M. Pirakasini (2017/ICT/03). Next Mr. Dhamith Kumara was selected as the Treasurer of the student branch who was proposed by Ms. A. L. A. D. P. Mayumika (2017/ICTS/63) and seconded by Ms. R. Nemitha (2017/ICT/14). Mr. Tharindu Rathnayaka was selected as the Vice-Chair of the student branch who was proposed by Mr. D. R. Savindu (2018/ASP/15) and seconded by Ms. R. K. Jayamini (2018/ICT/86). Next Ms. Vithuckshika Puvanasingam was selected as the Vice-Secretary of the student branch who was proposed by Ms. T. Kajalvizhy (2018/ASP/19) and seconded by Ms. K.P.S.Pabasara (2018/ICT/38). Next Ms. Hiruni Jayasinghe was selected as the Event Coordinator of the student branch who was proposed by Ms. T. Vanathy (2017/ICT/09) and seconded by Ms. P. Kojiga (2017/ICT/21). Next Mr. Harish Kavinda Anandarajah was selected as the Web Admin of the student branch who was proposed by Ms. J. M. D. Ruchitra (2018/ICT/88) and seconded by Mr. W. M. Chamara (2018/ICT/81). Next Ms. Pabasara Keerthirathne was selected as the one of Committee Member of the student branch who was proposed by Ms. D. M. Dilmi Madushika (2018/ICT/42) and seconded by Ms. P. B. Yasheesha (2019/ASP/46). Next Mr. Kishorkanth Pragash was selected as another Committee Member of the student branch who was proposed by Ms. M. G. Sonali (2019/ICT/108) and seconded by Ms. H. R. Nipuni (2017/ICTS/53). According to the nomination the committee details are as followed, Chair – Mr. Kavishan Madhan Secretary – Ms. Bhathusha Thushianthan Vice Chair – Mr. Tharindu Rathnayaka Treasurer – Mr. Dhamith Kumara Event Coordinator – Ms. Hiruni Jayasinghe Web Admin – Mr. Harish Kavinda Anandarajah Vice Secretary – Ms. Vithuckshiha Puvanasingam Committee Member1 – Ms. Pabasara Keerthirathne Committee Member2 – Mr. Kishorkanth Pragash The newly elected officers were present and accepted their officers and began to discharge their duties. Following the election, the newly appointed student branch chairman addressed the gathering mentioning the plans and visions of the activities for the coming year. After the chairman’s speech, Mr. Dhammika Marasinghe Chair of IEEE Young Professionals Sri Lanka Section gave his speech. Then awards for the winning teams of Snap-A-Click were also distributed at the event. Finally, the event was winded up with a vote of thanks from the newly elected student branch secretary.
